There is a misconception that Pre-schools / Early Learning Centres/ Kindergartens or Prep school offer a different School readiness program to Long Day care centres. This is incorrect. In line with Preschools / ELC/ Kindergartens and Prep Schools both Centres follow the same mandatory Early Years Learning framework Curriculum with qualified Early Childhood Educators.
Both Northgate and Greenwith Child Care Centres have entered into a partnership with the South Australian Government to implement the Universal Access to early Childhood Education. Universal Access is a commitment by the Australian Government to give all children access to quality childhood programs delivered by University trained teachers for 15 hours per week, 40 weeks of the year, in the year before full time schooling.
Both our Centres run a full universal access kindergarten program
At Northgate Childcare Centre & Kindergarten we have Pre-school & Kindergarten rooms available to support your child with school readiness skills. Both our rooms run Kindergarten programs.
Why 2 rooms:
We have many children within our Centre who are entitled to Kindergarten education. Our Kindergarten room offers a full Universal Access Kindergarten program which is run by 3 Early Childhood Teachers. Each child booked into the Centre who is not accessing Kindergarten at another service/school is entitled to 2 full days of Early Learning Program (this covers the Governments 15-hour entitlement) offered in our Kindergarten room.
Pre-school has Diploma Qualified Early Childhood Educators who work very closely with the adjoining Kindergarten room offering an extended Kindergarten program to children who are booked into care for more than two days per week. These children may access both the Pre School and Kindergarten rooms. The Pre School room also caters for children who access Kindergartens at other services/schools but require extra care days.
The additional resources invested in our Centres mean we can offer a more comprehensive School Readiness Program than most other Early Learning Centres. Extra Educators and longer hours enable Educators more time for programming, planning and working with children.
